Hi!
I’ve been into Pinterest a lot lately, just browsing, looking things up, and saving tons of stuff! On a Sunday afternoon recently, I saw that you can make a collage on Pinterest which I’ve never seen before. Eventually, I ended up trying it and I played around for a few minutes before I decided to do a horse themed one. Below you can see the full collage, it’s put in an animation that Pinterest made it into! I really like the finished product! I had seen other collages with flowers and I loved the idea. I did not purposefully make it a “spring” theme until the end but I realized it actually really fit with the flowers, the silly “spring is in the air” picture and even the snow-covered horse ears because our springtime here has still been hanging on to some snow! Most, if not all of the horse images I had saved already.
What’s something you liked about it (and why)? I like the reward of when it starts to look good, or a certain cutout looks nice where I put it, because that makes it super satisfying and fun! I like the look of some of the flowers next to some of the horse cutouts, especially that grey horse in the bottom left corner with those pink and white flowers, they just look so good together! Again, I’m really happy with how this one turned out!
What’s something you disliked about it (and why)? Honestly, the making of the collage wasn’t my favorite process but one of the reasons I’m doing a post on it is because I like how it turned out! Besides the tedious work of getting all of the images cut out how I wanted them to be and figuring out where to put them, which is very annoying, even though I like the creativity it’s almost too open ended! You could do any horse image, in any spot, and although there’s really no bad spot for it, there’s definitely a lot of thinking to be done for where they should go to look good or not.
I also realized that the lady and the bay horse cutout on the left side is away from the edge for some reason… I didn’t realize that happened before I saved it and apparently you can’t edit it once it’s created! So that’s one thing I dislike about the finish collage because that kind of stuff bothers me! And that would be some negative feedback for Pinterest, I get that you’re posting it as if it were a pin you made, but still, you should be able to edit it once you’re done since the whole creating process was done on that app. And that’s a nice option for people if they made a mistake or just want to change it.
What was your biggest takeaway or lesson? Probably just the experience of making a collage that I like the look of. I don’t like how collages typically have a certain vibe or aesthetic, and usually I don’t really like the aesthetic they have. But a takeaway for me was making one with a vibe that I actually like! I think it’s really cute… the horses with the spring theme! It’s also getting me more into the horse and equestrian world mood which was a takeaway too.
What is something you’re curious to learn more about as a result of this experience? I’m not necessarily curious to learn the technique of creating collages- again, the process wasn’t really my favorite. But I’d like to try it again, try different themes and I’m sure I’d get better and learn more as I keep trying them.
Thank you for reading!
