Arabian

The Majestic Desert Horse

Basics:

Arabians are one of the founding breeds, and although they are small, standing between 14–15 hand, Arabians are strong and have good stamina.

Interesting facts about this breed:

Arabians were bred to be a desert horse and can survive on little food. Because they lived so close to the Bedouin (traveling desert people), they developed a bond with humans. The Bedouin breeders prized their horses above rubies. They decorated their Arabians with colored tack— rosettes, beads, shells and tassels. Arabians are fast learners and easy to train, but they can also by unpredictable so they aren’t the best horse for beginner riders. They are colored gray, chestnut and bay, black and brown are rarely seen. Arabians also have very distinct heads: the head shape is very unique, almost dished, they have large eyes, small, neat ears and wide nostrils. Arabians hold their tails high and proud as well.
