Percheron

Basics:

The Percheron is a draft horse breed that is from France. They stand between 16-17 hands tall, and are colored gray or black.

Interesting facts about this breed:

Percheron’s have a lot of Arabian blood in them, which is evident in their wide forehead, wide nostrils, long necks and high-set tail, seen in the Arabian. They have less hair on their legs then other draft breeds and their lively action and color — always gray or black — is also seen in the Arabian. The first Percheron’s were imported to the U.S. from France by Edward Harris in 1839. He twice tried to bring eight horses, but only two survived, a mare named Joan and a stallion named Diligence. The stallion lived up to his name and foaled over 400 foals!
