Filling Out my New USA Map Bulletin Board

Hi!

One of the gifts I got from my parents for Christmas was this neat USA Map, and it’s a bulletin board so that you can put pins in and track where you’ve been. It’s very pretty, and a cool way to see and display all the places I’ve been. Traveling has always been a big part of our family’s lives, since my dad is a speaker and travels a lot. I’ve been so blessed with many fun trips with my family over the years! This map was a great gift. I’ve already started filling it out, I’ve got more to go, but I will share a bit about it so far.

What’s something you liked about it (and why)? I like seeing a visual image of a bunch of the places I’ve been. It’s cool to see a lot of these different places I’ve been laid out like this.

What’s something you disliked about it (and why)? I don’t like how I will have to figure out what all counts and what I should include on the board. For instance, I went to places when I was little that I don’t remember much of. There’s also been many times when we’ve just passed through towns or only did a little bit there. I don’t know if I should only count places that really feel like we’ve been there and experienced it. This feels like it’ll take a lot of thinking, remembering, and decision making.

What was your biggest takeaway or lesson? I was thinking about this because of something else recently too, so I’m not sure that it was completely from this, but a big takeaway has been remembering how blessed I’ve been with all the cool trips I’ve gotten to go on, all the awesome places I’ve gotten to experience, and all the fun memories we’ve made as a family. God has been so good to me!

What is something you’re curious to learn more about as a result of this experience? This desire may also partly have to do with something else I was thinking about recently, not just from this project, but I want to look back at some of these trips though pictures, past writings from my parents, photo books my dad has made, something like this. And then maybe create some sort of documentation of some of the trips. I’m not exactly sure what that means, maybe a video to music, a website post, an actual document, maybe write down some memories or facts from them, maybe a mix of these, or something else. But I think it’d be very fun to look back on some of the trips, be reminded of the fun we had, create something about it, and share this with my family!

Thanks for reading!

Lucy
